.Net Examples  -   Library Application
The Library Application  was a  four phase .Net application that I built  as part of my SetFocus training.   It supports the principal functions of a lending library’s day-to-day operations.

Although the focus of the Asp.net and WinForms applications was on the back end programming and not on the User Interface, I chose to build more than perfunctory GUIs.  My prior background in web page design enabled me to make good use of Visual Studio’s development tools to build the interfaces quickly and I was able to complete the projects on time, while meeting all the requirements of the business logic and data access tiers.

All four phases incorporate object oriented design, C# code that is easily maintainable, validation checking and error handling, use of XML, and connect to a SqlServer 2005 database.

Each phase required an increase in end user functionality and incorporated additional technologies for the back end support, such as the addition of business and data tiers, use of Asp.Net, Ado.net classes,  T-SQL stored procedures, web services, and security.

Phase 1 -  Windows Front-End Application
Provided the librian with a WinForms GUI to add new adult and juvenile members to the database, and to check books in and out.  Linked to data  tier code that was provided.
Phase 2 -  Data Access tier, Ado.Net, and T-SQL
Using the WinForms interface from phase 1, I coded the replacement for the data tier code that had been provided in phase 1. This required using Ado.net classes and writing T-SQL stored procedures.

Phase 3 -   Asp.net

WinForm code of phase 2 ported to Asp.net .

This part of the project is live.  Please take a few minutes to see how it works. Keep in mind that the application was built to specs which I did not design.

Phase 4 -   Web Services -

Business and Data Access tiers converted to Web Services.
